Kuwait Esports Club

The only specialized club in electronic games recognized by the Public Authority for Sports in the State of Kuwait.

Establishment

The Kuwait Esports Club was authorized by the Public Authority for Sports through resolution No. 12 of the year 2020, and its articles of association were published in the official gazette on 23/6/2020.

It is the only specialized club in electronic games and the only one recognized by the Public Authority for Sports in the State of Kuwait, operating as an association under Sports Law No. 87 of 2017.

Esports in the World

Electronic sports (esports) is a global spectator sport with more than 500 million fans across 152 countries, followed through platforms such as Twitch and YouTube Gaming.

The League of Legends World Championship has drawn more than 100 million viewers, the prize pool of The International 9 reached around $31 million, and total esports prize money in 2019 exceeded $226 million.

Esports has featured in the Asian Indoor Games since 2007, gained official status at the 2022 Asian Games, was recognized as an official sport by the U.S. government in 2013, and has been supported by university athletic scholarships since 2014.
